Credit card security

Cembra Money Bank credit cards feature the latest chip technology and provide you with the highest level of protection against card misuse. This technology allows cardholders to identify themselves by entering a PIN so that the transaction can be approved. The entering of the PIN has already replaced the old method of having to provide your signature at a large number of payment terminals. There are, however, payment terminals at which you still have to confirm the payment by only providing your signature or at which you have to sign the receipt in addition to entering your PIN.

To prevent your MasterCard credit card from being misused, please take note of the following points:

• Sign your MasterCard credit card in the signature box intended for this on the back of the card immediately after receiving it.
• You can change your PIN at any time at any ATM in Switzerland (except at post office ATMs). For security reasons, do not select number combinations that are easy to guess, such as dates of birth, telephone numbers or car registration numbers. Keep your PIN secret and never write it down anywhere, even in encrypted format.
• Store your card in a safe location at all time and do not give your credit card or disclose the card number to other people.
• Check your monthly bill for fraudulent transactions or other irregularities and if you identify any such bookings, inform us immediately on +41 (0)44 439 40 20.

In the event that the card is lost or stolen, you must have it blocked immediately by calling 044 439 40 20. This service is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. If you are abroad, you can contact us on +41 (0)44 439 40 20. We recommend making note of this 24-hour service number, which is also on the back of your credit card, in a separate location or saving it directly in your mobile phone. We will charge you a fee of CHF 20 for the replacement card.

• Destroy your old credit card by cutting up the magnetic strip and chip.
• Never disclose your credit card details (CVC, PIN) for informational purposes – even if you have been assured that the card will not be charged.
• Note down your credit card number and the emergency telephone number, and store these in a separate location to the card.
• You should also save the emergency telephone number on your mobile phone: Cembra Money Bank 24-hour Card-Blocking Centre +41 (0) 44 439 40 20.
• Never write down your PIN.
• Ignore any emails that ask for your credit card details.

Contact the 24-hour service (tel. no.: +41 (0)44 439 40 20) immediately and describe the reasons behind your suspicion. You can have your card blocked immediately.

Report the instance of misuse within the 30-day period for complaints by phone or in writing. The complaint form is available here.

• Credit cards are replaced when there is a suspicion of card misuse or in the event of fraud.
• The cardholder is informed of any suspicious transactions. A specialist anti-fraud team works actively and professionally on activities to prevent and combat misuse. The modern, up-to-date systems have ensured that the number of incidents of misuse has been kept to a very low level over the years.

If the cardholder has complied with all duties of care and security measures, the bank is liable for the misuse by third parties.

In order to make sure that you can collect Cumulus points on any purchases made by credit card, Cembra will need your Cumulus number. Cembra Money Bank will notify Migros of the total number of points collected in each billing period. Migros will not be informed as to what was bought, where the credit card was used or how much money was spent. The GoodPriv@cy data privacy seal also guarantees that data protection rules are enforced with Cumulus. Migros also confirms that it handles all customer data in compliance with data protection laws.
